Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Strength and Conditioning

Stage 4 — Advanced Practice in the PerformanceOS Learn Strength & Conditioning Development pathway. This regulated Level 4 qualification (QN 603/1161/7) develops the knowledge and practical competence to analyse athlete and activity demands and to plan, deliver and evaluate periodised strength and conditioning programmes. The course contains two mandatory units, 152 guided learning hours and 278 total qualification time. Assessment is through an internally assessed and externally quality-assured portfolio of evidence.

Professional boundary: Learners must work within their professional role, the qualification assessment requirements and their organisation’s safeguarding, health-and-safety and quality-assurance procedures.

This vocational qualification develops the knowledge, professional judgement and practical planning skills required to support clients living with long-term conditions through safe, inclusive physical activity. The pathway covers applied anatomy and physiology, the health landscape, condition management, behaviour change, and the planning and adaptation of activity, supported by portfolio and professional-discussion assessment.

Professional boundary: Learners must not diagnose, prescribe treatment or alter clinical care. Practice must remain within qualification scope and use appropriate referral, escalation and multidisciplinary communication.

VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral

This vocational qualification pathway develops and assesses the knowledge, professional judgement, programme-planning and practical delivery competence required for exercise-referral practice. Learners progress through anatomy and physiology, nutrition principles, professional practice, medical conditions, programme planning, practical instruction and final assessment.

Professional boundary: Exercise-referral practice requires appropriate referral information, informed consent, safe screening and clear escalation. Learners must not diagnose, change medication or work beyond their competence.

Professional boundary: Learners must not diagnose spinal pathology or provide clinical treatment. Red flags, deterioration and needs beyond exercise-professional scope require appropriate referral.

Professional boundary: Learners must not diagnose arthritis, advise on medication or provide an opinion on clinical management. Apply the published red-flag, cervical-spine, immunosuppression and referral rules.

Professional boundary: This course does not qualify learners to diagnose or treat mental-health conditions. Risk, crisis concerns and needs beyond professional competence require timely escalation through the appropriate pathway.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Exercise for People with Chronic Respiratory Disease

A specialist 10-point CPD course for qualified exercise professionals supporting people with chronic respiratory disease before, alongside and after pulmonary rehabilitation. The pathway combines eight structured learning modules, directed study, 24 tutor-contact hours and a supervised minimum 12-week real-client programme.

Professional boundary: This course does not qualify learners to deliver clinical pulmonary rehabilitation. Oxygen is prescribed medicine; learners must never adjust or instruct a participant to adjust an oxygen flow rate.
